We’re Moving Sundays to Annandale HS!

We’re excited to share an important next step in the life of our church. When we launched NoVA Community Church in September 2025, we were following God’s call to be regional in reach and local in expression—and now we have an opportunity to more fully live that out. We are so grateful for God’s provision at The Waterford for the past three years. However, over many months, new and recurring challenges have led us to search for a new meeting location.

After months of prayer and research with staff, and incorporating invaluable feedback from our ministry leaders and dedicated serving team, our Staff and the NoVA board of Elders have voted to move NoVA’s Sunday meeting location to Annandale High School, beginning May 17th of this year.

This decision was not made lightly. It comes with its own unique set of challenges, but also exciting opportunities in a new zip code and its surrounding community. Our interactions with the Annandale principal and other FCPS leaders have been incredibly positive; they are eager to have a church, our church, meet in their space.

God is opening a unique door for us in Annandale, one of the most diverse communities in Northern Virginia, with a high school of over 2,200 students representing dozens of nations. This is a strategic opportunity to serve and invest in a community with incredible potential. With existing relationships already in place through our leaders and partnerships with FCPS, we see God’s work in this.

It also gives us the chance to save a significant amount of money each month. The transition to Annandale High School will reduce our facility costs by at least 50%, allowing us to reinvest more directly into ministry. We will also have more space to grow into. We value stewarding our resources so that we can be irrationally generous where it’s needed most.

Here are some AHS stats to consider:

  • 31% are in need of English language services

    • For 81%, English is their second language

  • 66 countries and 59 languages are represented at Annandale

  • 16% are registered in special education

  • 71% are economically disadvantaged.

    • This 71% of Annandale students qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

We know how invested many of you are, and we are so grateful for that. This page will be evergreen for new questions and answers, but please make sure you’re subscribed to our E-Newsletter at novachurch.cc/enews to get the most up-to-date information and next steps.

We’ll need help on move dates (listed below in the FAQs), but most importantly, we need you to pray alongside us. We want to be good neighbors. We always want to leave a place better than we found it, and we want to be intentional as we move into a new neighborhood. God is giving us an incredible opportunity to show up for a community that needs resources and for people to see them the way God does.

We believe this step is a natural extension of who God has called us to be—regional in reach and local in expression—and we’re trusting Him to lead us into an even deeper season of impact. We’re excited to take this step together as a church family.

Here’s the truth… we can’t do this without you, and we definitely don’t want to do without God's guidance.
