Screen on the Green

Date: September 20th

Each fall, we partner with Garfield Elementary to host Screen on the Green—a free, family-friendly outdoor movie night designed to bring our local community together in a simple, joyful way.

Neighbors gather on the school lawn with picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and their favorite dinner treats for an evening under the stars. We provide desserts and classic movie snacks to share, and once the sun sets, the movie begins!

Whether you're new to the area or have lived here for years, Screen on the Green is all about connection—a night to relax, laugh, and make memories together. It’s one small way we get to live out love, one neighborhood at a time.

Friendsgiving

Date: November 22nd

Gratitude, Good Food, Great Company.

Each November, we join with Garfield Elementary School to host Friendsgiving—a shared Thanksgiving meal hosted by NoVA Community Church, created to bring people together around the table and across dividing lines.

Friendsgiving is more than a meal. It’s a moment to connect with our neighbors, especially those experiencing food insecurity, in a way that’s warm, welcoming, and deeply human. As we pass plates and share stories, we’re reminded that the table is a sacred place—where everyone belongs, just as the Lord welcomes each of us to His.

This event is only possible through the generous support of volunteers who help prepare food, serve our guests, and create a space of dignity and joy.

Whether you're looking for a way to give back, meet your neighbors, or simply be part of something meaningful—Friendsgiving is for you.

Easter Community Event

Each spring—just before Easter—we host a joyful, family-friendly event at Garfield Elementary that brings our community together to celebrate the season with creativity, connection, and fun.

This event is designed for families of all ages to experience the hope and renewal of Easter in a relaxed and welcoming space. With hands-on activities, sweet treats, and opportunities to gather with neighbors, it’s one of our favorite ways to love where we live.

It’s also an event we build together—with volunteers from our church family helping to create a space where joy, belonging, and the story of Easter come to life.

Whether you’re looking to serve, bring your family, or invite a friend, we’d love for you to be part of it.

Easter reminds us that hope has the final word—and we get to live that out in our community.

Back-to-School Supply Drive

Date: August 3rd & 10th

Each August, we partner with local schools to help students and teachers start the year feeling prepared, supported, and seen.

Our Back-to-School Supply Drive is a simple, hands-on way our church community shows up for our neighborhoods. From backpacks and notebooks to markers and tissues, every donation helps create classrooms where kids can thrive and teachers feel encouraged.

During the drive, we set up donation drop-off spots at both of our Sunday services—making it easy for everyone to participate. Just bring your items with you to church and drop them off in the designated bins.

It’s a small act with a big impact and one more way we get to live out love in our community.
